Test Run!

Now is a good time to give your air conditioner a “test run”.

On a warm day before it gets HOT, set your thermostat to cool for a few minutes to make sure your AC turns on and is operating properly. If there are any problems, you can make sure to have that air conditioner serviced and repaired before the weather really starts to get uncomfortable. The last thing you want is for that AC to break that first hot weekend, only to find out you can’t get service for a few days because everyone else waited also. Along with that here are some more helpful tips to get you thinking about warmer weather.

·       Clean leaves, branches and winter debris away from your outside AC unit. Also, trim back shrubs and bushes making sure there are at least 12 inches of clearance from the unit.

·       Switch ceiling fan blades to run in a counter clock wise motion for the cooling season.

·       Hang heat blocking curtains to help keep your cooling bills in check

·       Check vents to make sure furniture isn’t blocking air flow.

And the #1 tip to get ready for the warmer weather……

Schedule an AC tune up!

Give me your opinion - Weather in Ohio is _____

Don’t like the weather? Just wait a few minutes. It will change….

I know that the days are getting longer and the weather is supposed to be getting warmer, but Mother Nature seems to be confused. I also know that by this time next week, we could consistently have warm weather for a week and then snow before it is all said and done.
Knowing all this, I was still a little bit surprised when we started to schedule the cooling season checks at work. I mean, I understand that when the weather breaks it would be nice to know that my AC is going to kick on and cool my house without fail, but how are we doing that when the snow is still flying??
Well I found the answer is simple. Our maintenance department gets to go camping .. Not really, but it looks like it. They break out the pup tents and cover the equipment to raise the air temperatures to the level needed to get that AC unit running. Then they are able to diagnose any problems and get them corrected before you need the cool air!

So when you get that call asking you to schedule your cooling season check, go ahead and say yes! That way you’re ready for when Mother Nature decides to turn the heat up.

This is Ohio!

March is here, and that means that the weather is beginning its transition from winter to spring. March is one of those months here in the Ohio where we can have a week-long cold snap, only to follow it up with a few 60 degrees-plus days!
Our clients are starting to think about their air conditioning systems, but the chances are they’ll probably still need their furnace for a couple of months, too. How can you best utilize all of your home comfort equipment
and maintain maximum energy efficiency while you’re at it? We always suggest a new thermostat.
Many homeowners in our area are still using
their old, antiquated thermostat

because the thought of a new-fangled programmable one is scary to them. And truth be told, not every programmable thermostat is a breeze to use.

But luckily, the Totaline Premier Series offers touch-and-go t-stats that are less about science fiction and more about ease of use.

Money saving tips that will help you through the end of winter

This is the time of year that I start to wonder how to save money. Unfortunately, it’s also the time of colder days and higher heating bills. I have found that with these simple tricks I can keep the house comfy and lower my energy bills.

  •         The first thing is CHANGE THE DIRTY FILTER !!!

Now to most people this is a no brainer; but the cleaner your filter is, the more efficiently your furnace will run.
****To schedule me to come out and show you how to change your filter, click this link to contact me Airclaws, Inc

  •         Along with changing your filter regularly, have your heating and air conditioning system professionally cleaned twice a year -
               1. right before the summer cooling season and
               2. right before winter when the furnace works the hardest

to keep the efficiency at its best.

  •       Also, by learning how to use my programmable thermostat, I have been amazed to see the difference in savings. By setting the thermostat to run just 5 degrees cooler when I’m asleep and 10 degrees cooler when I’m gone to work, I can save almost $200 per heating season. The neatest thing to me about using a programmable thermostat? I never feel the colder temps.  By programming the thermostat to return to normal temps about an hour before I wake up or get home I save money and stay toasty.
  •        Filling cracks around windows with clear caulk and blocking drafts near the door jam are low tech and helpful ways to save some more  money.
Hope these tips help you save some money WHILE you stay toasty this winter.
